Subreal: subcultures as common realities, is a digital research project comprising of work made by the public. Conceived as a learning tool in collaboration with the online atelier for art and educational programs of MU, subreal welcomes everybody to take part independently of age or geographical location.

In this digital workshop you are invited to become a field researcher and play out a series of experiments in your private, public or digital environment. Each assignment revolves around an item or a system as a point of departure. 

The resulting map of submitted experiments aims to show visual processes and junction-making between 

people, objects and environments - thus revealing a common digital landscape, where clues for subcultural lines are inherent within the map of submissionsAs a research projects, subreal is looking at ways of developing new commons and hopes to engage visitors both from diverse generations.

As a public program it feeds into education, giving insights for everybody interested in contemporary cultures and acting as starting point or inspiration for designers, architects, curators as well as for professionals in disciplines such as literature, ethnography, philosophy, technology or film.
